I slightly did not see this coming, but I was in utter denial because I could NOT bear the idea of Twilight becoming an alicorn. BUT shit happens. I found out about this around noon before class and knew I had to draw her with wings somehow and this was the answer. I got very excited when I saw Twilight with wings. It's cool that she can now fly, and I like their brand new shape. (Rainbow's reaction and line is heart-warming.) I think she deserves it and that it makes sense that it happens. I'm just not too comfortable with her height change. I'd prefer if she was exactly the same except for the wings.
I'm feeling the "End of Twilight's body as we know it" blues, but I'm also absolutely pleased with that beautiful episode. And am hoping that she's not an alicorn ALL the time, and if she is, that I can watch the new episodes without finding it weird. Not to mention the old episodes. She's still herself there, but when I make a season marathon, knowing what's about to happen to her, will I think about it as I watch it, or will that part of my brain/memories be asleep most of the time?

All that's left to wonder is how season 4 will play out and like you said, her alicorn characteristics would be temporary, but as we see it now it's very unlikely. I'm interested to see how she will confront things now with her new abilities. All we can do is wait.
